Guidelines for Enrollment

  1. You must confirm Spring 2009 admission to the University of Maryland.

  2. You must take the Math Placement Exam (MPE) even if you do not register for a Math course. Enrollment requests will not be processed until results of the MPE are verified.

  3. You’re encouraged to take a full academic load. Full-time status for University of Maryland undergraduate students is based on registration for 12 or more credits per semester (at least 4 three-credit courses).

  4. Read the instructions on CORE, MATH, and ENGL.

  5. Majors in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College of Computer, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences, and the College of Chemical and Life Sciences are strongly encouraged to enroll in a Math course.

  6. You must register for a section of UNIV 100.

  7. Do not choose courses with conflicting times. To help you design a workable schedule, click here for a printable Schedule Worksheet.

  8. Section numbers for all Freshmen Connection courses begin with FC.

  9. Some courses offer multiple sections or have discussion sections that meet at different times and/or locations.

  10. If you’ve taken or are planning to take AP/IB/CLEP exams or courses at another institution, please take this into account when selecting courses. For more information on AP/IB/CLEP & Transfer Credits, click here.

  11. Select second and third choices on the enrollment form. Program enrollment, course selection, and course adjustments are on a first-come, first-served basis.

  12. Once your enrollment form has been verified, reviewed, and processed, your schedule is frozen until August 8, 2008. Changes to your schedule may be made beginning at noon on August 8.

  13. Tuition for Freshmen Connection is charged at a flat rate for up to 16 credits, including UNIV 100.

  14. If you need assistance, e-mail fc@umd.edu or call 301-405-6551.
